PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Marcio Vasconcellos is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Musick, Peeler & Garrett, LLP.  He is a member of the International Arbitration and Business Litigation Practice Groups.  Mr. Vasconcellos represents clients in international commercial arbitration under a variety of rules, including (ICC, ICDR, AAA, JAMS, CAM/CCBC, and the UNCITRAL Rules).  He also has significant experience in domestic arbitration and related litigation.  In addition to his litigation practice, Marcio also represents clients in a variety of transactional work, including domestic and cross-border Mergers & Acquisitions.

Mr. Vasconcellos practiced for several years in Brazil before relocating to California.  Prior to joining Musick Peeler, Mr. Vasconcellos was a junior associate in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Baker & McKenzie in Brazil (Trench, Rossi & Watanabe) and a partner of a boutique commercial law firm (Matter, Boettcher & Zanini - MBZ), specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions and arbitration.

International Commercial Arbitration, Domestic Arbitration and Related Litigation: advising clients on mitigating their contractual risk; early dispute analysis and avoidance; international arbitration representation; and, arbitration-related litigation.

Business Litigation: representation of clients through litigation before State and Federal Courts.

Mergers and Acquisitions: representation of various domestic and foreign entities in transactions involving electronic, software, medical device and food companies pursuant to either stock purchase or asset purchase transactions, including acquisition of assets from bankrupt or financially distressed companies.

Corporate Governance/Disputes: representation of companies and their boards of directors and officers on corporate governance best practices, including oversight and fiduciary responsibilities, board and committee structure and internal or independent investigations and minority vs. controlling shareholders disputes/litigation.

In addition to his practice, Marcio is the chair of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb-NAB), is also an adjunct professor at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution - Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, and a lecturer in law at the University of Southern California - USC - Gould School of Law, where he teaches classes on international arbitration.
