The Honorable Charles E. Woode is currently a United States Administrative Law Judge. Judge Woode was appointed as a Washington State Administration Law Judge in 2008 and subsequently appointed as a United States (Federal) Administrative Law Judge in 2011. Over the past 15 years, Judge Woode has adjudicated and issued thousands of decisions in adversarial and non-adversarial proceedings.

Before becoming a judge, he litigated cases before Washington State courts and United States District Court and Court of Appeals. He also participated in numerous arbitrations and mediations of cases in litigation. He is a member of the Washington State and Ghana bar associations.

Judge Woode was one of the presenters at the 3rd Annual African Arbitration Association conference in November 2022 and at the 7th CIArb Kenya Arbitration Conference. He is the author of a published article involving a Washington State court’s handling of parties’ choice of law clause in their international arbitration agreement. He is a member of the Certified Institute of Arbitrators, London, the North American chapter, and is the president of Woode International Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc.

Judge Woode holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from The American University, Washington College of Law; a Juris Doctorate degree (J.D.) from Seattle University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Ghana.
